What is considered Complex Care?

Complex Support Needs will provide specialised support for participants living with a disability who have many different challenges impacting on their lives such as mental health issues, incarceration or homelessness, and need a higher level of specialised supports.


What do people mean by high intensity supports?

NDIS Skill Descriptors in the NDIS Practice Standards describe the skills and knowledge that workers are required to obtain when supporting participants with the high intensity daily personal activities.


Providers delivering high intensity supports need to meet the appropriate NDIS Practice Standards

High intensity supports include;

  • Complex bowel care
  • Enteral feeding support
  • Dysphagia support
  • Ventilator support
  • Tracheostomy support
  • Urinary catheter support
  • Subcutaneous injections
  • Complex wound care support
  • Epilepsy and seizure support
  • Complex behavior management
